How To Become An Uber Driver Without A Car | 4 Simple Tips

The lure of being your boss attracts a lot of people to drive for Uber. Uber drivers have a ton of flexibility. You don’t have a supervisor, punch a time clock, or report to anyone. You can drive when you want to and take time off when you feel like it. On top of those benefits, Uber drivers can get paid using Instant Pay up to five times a day.

How much you can earn as an Uber driver depends on where you drive, how often you drive, and when you drive. However, the median earnings per trip in most major cities across the US is between $8.29 (Oklahoma City) and $13.33 (New York City), which works out to roughly $12 to $21 per hour. The bay area fetches the highest median pay of $21.21 per hour.

A lot of drivers either don’t have a car or don’t have a car that meets Uber’s qualifications. I will show you how to become an Uber driver without a car

Fill out the Uber driver application. Access Uber’s website and select “I need a car” when asked about car type. You will be qualified as driver without a vehicle. Once you’re approved you are officially an Uber driver.

Use Uber’s Vehicle Marketplace. Uber has partnered with rental car companies to provide vehicles for their drivers. Vehicles are rented by the week and by the hour. Rates range between $150 to $295 for weekly rentals with age requirements, usually over 21 or 25 depending on the Uber partner.

Use a ridesharing company. As an alternative to weekly rentals, Uber drivers can rent from a ridesharing company. Getaround and HyreCar rent personal vehicles to rideshare drivers that need a vehicle to drive for Uber. Rates vary between $5 and $8 per hour (Getaround). Uber drivers sign up on their platform as drivers. Once you’re approved as a driver, you can use their apps to find cars in your area. Rideshare companies are available in most major cities.

“Drive” for UberEats. UberEats does not require that you own a vehicle. You can use another form of transportation for their food delivery service such as a bike, motorcycle, or scooter. During the height of COVID food delivery services became popular and profitable.

If you have some extra time and want to earn some extra money, driving for Uber may be worthwhile. But before becoming an Uber driver without a car, make sure the numbers pencil. That includes adding in the cost for your time to pick up and drop off the rental car.

I do however appreciate the author’s efforts to make an informative site. May you all find what you’re seeking, and especially may you all find the extra income we are all always seeking!
