One of the biggest learnings that I took out of my Master’s in Spiritual Psychology was how to put a ladder between my head and my heart. (HA, let’s just say that this isn’t something that my Master’s in War Studies taught me…)
Far too often, I’ve caught myself retreating into my mind for a life decision that truly resides in my heart: calling off my engagement, starting my coaching business… Even writing these emails to you.
Believe me when I tell you, I have been instructed to sell you so much stuff on this email blast and subsequently beat to a pulp by digital marketers who cannot BELIEVE I simply write these love notes versus sell you thousands of things.
But here’s the deal… At the end of the day, we all go to bed alone (or perhaps just next to someone we love), and the ultimate test of personal freedom is to feel good about how you operate in the world.
I’ve spent so many nights in my bed, thinking about that. In fact, I made this audio for you while I was in the dark laying in bed.
And let me tell you, I’ve learned first hand that the answers to life’s hardest questions are already there in your heart.
Think about it… Have you ever been “stuck,” only to ask everyone under the sun for advice, even when you know deep down what you should do?
This is called denial.
It exists only in the mind—we talk ourselves out of things that our hearts want us to do because the ideas may scare us. We tell ourselves stories so that we don’t have to face what we already feel in the heart.
The irony? We always end up having to face the truth—the one that was already there in the first place.
My challenge to you is to be wildly honest with yourself. Be courageous enough to see things as they are (but not worse than they are).
An exercise you can use to get answers: sit quietly, ask yourself whatever question you’re struggling with, and choose not to “think” it through. FEEL the answer in your heart.
And see where that gets you.
HINT: It will be further than you could have ever imagined.
I use this to make life decisions now, and it’s a completely different way of life. It’s flow.
